Opening band: New American Shame
Well it had to be the calmest LA crowd yet. Ian kept yelling, "boring!" and
"dance!" at the audience. There were only two fights tonight and security
in the pit was pretty responsive. The band was amazing as usual and they
were having a great time. People only started to stage dive toward the end
of the set when Ian really got on to the crowd for being boring. Somebody
from the VIP seating section kept throwing handfuls of dollar bills into the
pit and some made it up on stage. Ian grabbed a few and stuffed them in his
shirt and pranced around like some Sunset stripper. Before the encore Ian
took some of the dollar bills and said that each one was going to go to a
certain charity and that if someone has money to burn they should donate to
something meaningful. He came back out for the encore with a "God Save the
Queen" Sex Pistols t-shirt on. The big treat for fans cam at the end of
Love Removal Machine when Ian dove off stage on each side and threw the
tambourine from the crowd. This fan almost got a hand on it, well had I
been taller or able to jump higher. After the crowd got Ian back on stage
the second time Martyn and Billy grabbed Ian and pretended to throw him back
out into the crowd. Another great night, two more to go!
