Opening band: New American Shame
What a Comeback!!!! These guys put on one hell of a show for 1hr 15min. It was
unbearably hot in the quest, so I can understand why they did not play longer.
However, what they did play was awesome. It is sooo goood to see the Boyz back on
stage again, playing the music we all love!! You have to see them LIVE!

Finally got to hear NEW AMERICAN SHAME with a decent sound system and my
observations were correct: THESE GUYS ROCK! They are a very good choice for
guesting with THE CULT. Hmmm, where to begin, Ian came out with his hair braided
and a feather in his hair which made me think he might sing something from
Ceremony like Wild Hearted Son. However, it was extremely HOT inside the
Quest and Ian quickly abandoned this and let his hair down. All were dressed in
black and Matt wore black spandex shorts with no shirt. Matt had all his family
there in the balcony section, Sandy got a backstage pass and met his family and
was told that there was a family reunion of the Sorum clan. Everyone in the family
seemed to be having a great time during the show. I got close to the stage in the
early evening and really had to fight for a place to stand. Jammer and I really
wanted to get close to the action and see Ian, Billy, and the rest of the group
since we were too far away from them at the Kansas City show. The crowd was too
much for Sandy to tolerate so she broke free and went upstairs. Ian came out in
similar attire from the previous night, however, his draw string pants kept falling
and he finally shot the moon at one of the security guys in front who would not let
him get down into the crowd in front of the stage. I think he wanted to jump into
the crowd like he did at Alpine Valley. It was really funny and everyone got the
joke. Billy was having some problems with his guitar halfway through the show, but
being the consummate axe man he is, he had several guitars lined up like pretty
maids all in a row, and when one guitar failed to function, he tossed it aside and
grabbed another, plugged it in and kept on with his boogie riffs. I think the
play list was the same as Kansas City, but I feel everyone in the band had more
energy that night, the Quest is a small venue with a small stage, but the sound
systems far surpassed the Uptown. Well, time to rest up and enjoy the surroundings
of Minneapolis before heading on to Chicago. Jammer and Sandy a special THANKS
here for a great time and sharing two concerts with me.

It was about 90 degrees outside that night, and 30 degrees hotter inside. The Cult
performed a great show. The band sounded incredibly tight and looked young and healthy.
Unfortunately, nothing from Ceremony or the Self-Titled album, athough they did do In
The Clouds and a funky version of The Witch Possibly a preview of the album
version? Ian was visibly miffed when the sound system kept feeding back during
New York City. Overall the Cult is as good as I've ever seen them and well worth
the wait. Unfotunately, no Bif Naked. New American Shame was OK.
