Ian Astbury performed an acoustic set at the Tibetan Freedom benefit held
at the House of Blues on July 4th. He was joined by Chris Goss (Masters of
Reality), who also played guitar, and a cello player and viola player. A
memorable moment was the moving rendition of Edie (Ciao Baby). It was
quite remarkable to hear it played acoustically accompanied by the cello and
viola! They also performed 2 new songs from Ian's upcoming solo album, which
he said will be delayed due to the return of The Cult. One song- Che Wild
Like A Horse powerfully displayed Ian's vocal abilities. Being a big fan
of the Holy Barbarians, I was thrilled to hear Brother Fights. The set
was short, 6 songs total I believe, but truly a memorable experience!
