Knaack-club, Berlin, Germany
Opening Band: Zam Helga
Knaack-club is a little but cosy venue/danceclub in the east of Berlin I like
very much - there is always a close feeling to the performers. There's just one
disadvantage: Right in front of the stage is a big column. after Zam Helga (a
German unknown band) ended up, I placed myself right in front of the stage. The
show was not sold out, so all in all it was comfortable. The atmosphere in the
audience was a little too cool at the beginning, but it got better. after the
short jazz-intro the HBs came out and broke into Blind. It was really
rocking! - But I have to admit I was very dismayed in Ian's looking (not clothes
or hairdo). He looked kind of depressive and desillusioned to me, relly sad. I
find it hard to describe (all the more in English...) and it is very personal,
but I was and I am still attached to Ian because of his strong expressive and
passionate lyrics (although his personal motives probably differ to what I
think or feel when I'm listening to them). Anyway, when I saw him being so sad,
it made me sad, too. So at first I just stared at Ian with a pretty serious
face, Later I got into the music. They played the whole Cream exept She
and Opium, also Helter Skelter, Wild Flower and The
Witch. The other bandmembers seemed relaxed and satified. Just right before
the encore s.o. came up from behind, gave me a peck on my cheek and embraced me.
This was Ian. I embraced him back, then he made his way back onto the stage.
This was a very amicable an intimate gesture and it felt, as if he wanted to
comfort me. After the set Ian got ready to smash the amps but s.o. managed to
stop him. Still a few days later I was sad, so I decided to see them once again
in Hamburg. Please excuse my mistakes!!
