Club Babyhead, Providence, Rhode Island
A couple of friends and I went to see Ian and the boys at the now closed
Club Babyhead. I was watching the opening act when my two buddies disappeared,
one of them returned and explained that the other was talking to Ian in the
back alley. I thought he was kidding til he led me to the back alley between
the club and the dressing room and there he was. Introductions followed - I
didnt recognize him at first with the new bright strawberry blonde hair. He
was nicer than I thought he would be, being one of my rock idols. They went
on a short time later and rocked the house. It was amazing, the sound at
Babyhead sucked as usual, but it was great to see Ian up there doing his thing.
The energy was incredible and they played pretty much the entire Barbarians CD IT ROCKED!!!!!! Can't wait for the next show.

5 years later and this show really sticks out in my mind. My girlfriend was a
huge Cult fan and the chance to see Ian in a small club (and I mean small!!!)
couldn't be passed up. We were both really bumming about the size of the crowd.
If there were a hundred people there I would be shocked. We stood right at the
front of the stage (not a hard thing to do with the sparse crowd) and I kind of
expected Ian might "mail it in" so to speak since the crowd was so small. I could
not have been more wrong. He gave 110%, seeming to have a great time. The band
was pretty good (man they were young though!). The only Cult song I can recall
was The Witch however I was not too familiar with the old "Southern Death
Cult" stuff so they may have done one of those as well. We both left feeling like
this was one of the best experiences we had ever had seeing a band. Right up front
and a great show!
