I am a huge Cult fan from Kansas City, MO. and have attended almost all of
their shows in the area. During their 1995 tour, I saw them play in Kansas
City one night and St. Louis the next (March). My friends and I were able to
stand at front row during both shows - Ian was incredible. Unfortunatey, I
can't say the same for Big Chief. This band was terrible and we let them know
it (in St. Louis). I attended the show with several friends and about ten of
my brother's frat. members. We got pretty boozed-up before and at the concert
(which probably didn't help matters). But anyway. . . Big Chief started doing
their opening thing (I guess you can call it playing music) and in order to
pump the crowd up, they began to put Kansas City down (of course I'm sure
this band probably does this at every town). Nevertheless, our drunken group
spit beer at Big Chief and told them to "fuck-off!" among other things. By
the end of their routine, the big fat "meatloaf" look'n dude from Big Chief
had heared about enough. He and his tribe tried to jump down from the stage
and reach us over the wall but failed once security showed up. After several
beers were thrown at and by the band, they made their way backstage. As we
waited for Ian and the boys, St. Louis security came for us. They explained
that Big Chief wanted to see us back stage. Thank god, we kept cool - we
stayed where we were and figured that nothing good could have come from it
(other than kicking the shit out of Big Chief and his fucked up band).
Throughout the Cult's performance that night, security escorted several of us
out for unruley behavior. However, I was able to stay (along with my
brother and several others) and watch a powerful performance by the band I
truly love.

I have been a fan of the Cult for a long time. That show in St. Louis was the
best show by any band I have ever seen. The theater is old, but there is not a
bad seat in the house. Definitely one of the highlights of my life.
