This was actually a Guns N' Roses concert that the Cult was added to quite late, as I recall. Anyway, it rained hard that day, and the first two bands weren't particularly well-received. However, from the moment the Cult hit the stage the energy shot up--to a level even GNR did not surpass. They did a greatest hits set, opening with She Sells Sanctuary and Lil' Devil, and it was simply great. It was a great experiece for me as well--I was doing a college exchange program and had seen the band several times in the US, but it was excellent to see them play in England.

The Cult were support act for Guns and Roses, they came on after Soul Asylum and Blind Melon (quite a bill). I'm not sure if it was my own euphoria but I thought they blew Guns N' Roses away. They did all the classics and Astbury apologiged for the Ceremony album saying the next album would be more progressive. Can someone confirm why the broke up? Did Astbury fall off the wagon? I thought the Cult self titled album was awesome.

A very wet day at a terrible venue. But the Cult provided some comfort. Disappointingly short set, but they were supporting Guns N' Roses. Sound was not as good as normal, but I guess that's outdoor concerts for you - with of course it still being light so no atmospheric effects from the light guys. Worth the drive up from Brighton though!
