ARCO Arena, Sacramento, California
Opening Band: Popalopes
Ceremony Tour was the best Cult show I have been to. The press was bashing the
album, and I have heard the band was having a terrible time coexisting on this
tour, but they put on one of the greatest concerts in my memory that night.
Kravitz was sick, so a local band (the Popalopes...lame name i know) opened
with an extremely short set...more time for Cult! Kicked off the show with
Ceremony and the crowd responded by going crazy...during Sun King
the entire floor section of crowd was bouncing and singing simultaneously. I
was about 25 feet from Ian the entire show, and I could notice his pleasure
from seeing our reactions to the songs. He kept making references to the crowd
as a "family," and "brothers and sisters." It made for a very cool vibe. Before
they launched into Peace Dog Ian says, "I want you to go ABSOULUTELY
FUCKING CRAZY for this song!!!!!!" Of course the family atmosphere dissipated
during the song as we moshed like maniacs...many bruises. Anyway, I've been to
several shows but this was my favorite...a killer time.
