I had eighth row seats but managed
to sneak to the front of the stage after Lenny Kravitz finished. This
was the best concert of my life. Although I was at the extreme right of
the stage it just happened that that was where Billy Dufy was to stand
for most of the night. He was no more than three feet away from me. Being a
guitarist myself this was an amazing opportunity to see him play this
close. The concert was amazing. Nearing around the midnight hour The
Cult left the stage. My friends and I managed to push our way to centre
stage. Everyone was being friendly as hell. The Cult re-emerged a few
minutes before midnight bringing along with them party favours and
champagne. The countdown began and when midnight hit the champagne
popped the party favours were distributed. Lenny and a whole group of
others came on stage and there was a lot of hugging going on. Billy
passed the champagne to the audience and I was one of the first few to
take a swig. All in all it was an amazing night. I came out with a
hand full of party favours and one of Billy's guitar picks (I still have
it). It was the last time I saw The Cult in concert.

I got nailed by security bringing my walkman in and they
confiscated it for the duration of the show. Lenny Kravitz openned
again and did a good set, then The Cult came on to a loud roar.
This show sold out very quickly and it looked it! During the
Cult's set I ran into ex-bassist Jamie Stewart. He was standing
near me on the floor. I said hi and asked him if he missed playing
shows like this. He just smiled and said no. Just before
midnight, Ian kept looking at the big scoreboard clock over centre
ice. Lenny Kravitz came out and Ian got everyone to turn to the
person sitting next to them and say "Happy New Year!" It was
pretty cool. Then he and Lenny popped a champagne bottle together
and poured it on the front row fans. Then Lenny Kravitz left and
the Cult did their encore.

I wanted to share with everyone the great experience of this concert. My friend
and I purchased front row centre tickets for the show which was amazing. We bought
them from a scalper for 150 a ticket which was crazy at the time but really worth
it. Lenny Kravitz opened and he was pretty cool, but we were there to see the Cult
they played for quite a long time and when it was getting close to the new year the
Cult came out with champaine and counted down the new year and Lenny Kravitz
came out and Ian wrapped his legs around him and gave him a huge bear hug. We
got soaked in the front row from the champaine and people were trying like crazy to
get to the front, we were three feet away from Ian all night and it was the best New
Year's I ever celebrated.
