River Plate Stadium, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Opening Bands: Los Guarros, Steppenwolf
It was the first Cult concert in Argentina. 30.000 thousand people. The first band
was a local one called "Los Guarros", which no longer exists. The second was Steppenwolf and they
performed obviously the well now Born To Be Wild. When it was time to rock with
The Cult, a heavy rain started. We feared the worst, the cancellation of the show. Meanwhile,
the people on the field found shelter under the covers that protected the grass. The setting
was similar to that of Woodstock, mud all over the place so it was really fun. Thanks God,
the rain stopped, and we enjoyed a real good show. They began with Ceremony. they also
played White, Earth Mofo, Nirvana, She Sells Sanctuary, Rain,
Wild Flower, Lil' Devil, American Horse, Soul Asylum, New York
City, an accoustic version of Edie (Ciao Baby), Peace Dog, Fire Woman,
Sweet Soul Sister and they ended the show with Love Removal Machine. The band
sounded great although Billy and Ian didn't communicate each other at all. I've got
the video tape, just in case. I've also got the one of 1995, one of the last shows before their
separation.
