Opening Band: Steve Jones
This is the last performance that included Jamie Stewart. It was also
backstage after this concert that Axl Rose offered Matt Sorum a job
with Guns 'N Roses.
Great setting for what turned out to be the Cult's last gig with Jamie Stewart
playing in the band. Ex-Pistol Steve Jones opened the show with a very loud and
fast set which set the stage for a furious performance by the main band. Ian
looked incredible from the off...head to toe black with his hair falling almost
as far as his waist. The band played a really tight set and while Ian was
mesmerizing on stage he seemed a little detached ... that is until the final
three songs. Fire Woman transformed him into a crazed whirling dervish -
perhaps the finest headbanging display I have ever seen - something he kept up
through the She Sells Sanctuary / Love Removal Machine encore.
Magnificent.
