Peoria Civic Center Arena, Peoria, Illinois
Opening Bands: Tora Tora, Bonham
Was a great concert. My friend and I met Matt the drummer before the show,
he was walking down the street outside his hotel. He gave us his autograph
which I still have. We almost met Ian, he was on his bus outside the hotel,
but his girlfriend chewed us out. She was a bitch, supposedly the song
Fire Woman is about her, now I know why! We had front row
seats!! The show kicked ass!

It was St. Patricks Day, cold and rainy. The
openers were Bonham and Tora Tora. I have been to scores of shows and that
one always sticks out. I have been looking to see if anyone has a video
bootleg of that performance. Do you know if one exists? I'd appreciate any
info on it, if you do. My only good story about that day is my friend Jeff
and I went down to the venue early that afternoon. We stood by these doors
that were locked. Anyhow, some guy that was a road hand opened that door to
get in. As the door was closing behind him, my friend went running for that
door but didn't get to it in time. The next thing that happened was the guy
came back and opened it and said "You didn't see me open this for you."
Now, my friend and I are roaming around the arena! We walk in the place and
sat up in the lower bowel watching the crew set up. I remember that they
were setting up the Cult, testing the lights, and other stuff. Bonham was
walking around the floor with a video camera. All of a sudden I look over to
my right and some jerk sees Jeff and I sitting there. This guy goes down to
the floor and tells this one guy, who is a local in charge of stage hands,
that we were up there. He gets up and walks up to us and says "This hall is
closed boys, yer gunna have ta leave." So, he escorted us out of the
building. We were so close to watching the Cult sound check! We were
pissed. What a great memory.
