My first cult show, I hadn't been to a concert in about 4 years, the last was AC/DC,
Back In Black, and I walked out because there were so many fights. Disgusting scene.
People just beating the shit out of each other. This show was a pleasant surprise. To
start it seemed the place was filled with hundreds of 18 to 20 year old girls wearing
nothing but lacy underwear. Not unattractive girls I must say. Cool, I like this
scene, bonus show, beats the hell out of the knuckle heads pounding each other. Someone
at work had been playing love electric and dreamtime nonstop for weeks and I had
become a cult fan. Now that Sonic Temple was out people were really riding the cult
wave. This album was big loud and bold. No one had ever heard anything like it back
then. I absolutely loved it. Fire woman was real hot on the 20 something rocker party
scene. Trancing like a cat on a hot tin shed is a classically great rock lyric. Oh
well my friends liked it best. I can't remember the first band. Bonham was okay,
nothing special. Basic rock stuff. Out came the cult. They came out very loud. The
mixing was screwed up on the first two songs, couldn't hear Ian on NYC, big bummer.
The mercer arena is just a box. They got it right after a while and the band was
cooking. Ian was wild loud and sounded good, great rock stuff, good lyrics, great
rock singer, he sold the band. By the time they got to the encore the place was
shaking. Billy came out with this f hole guitar and wailed on She Sells Sanctuary, at
that point I'm thinking, who the hell is this guy? I like their music but I didn't
know it was like this. At that point I know this is the best live rock song
performance I've ever seen. Very satisfied by the whole show. I don't think there was
a second guitar player. I could be wrong but I thought there was just Ian, Billy a
drummer and bass player. And Billy cooked
