Livingston Forum, West Lothian, Scotland
Opening Band: Claytown Troupe
As it's nearly 12 years since this particular concert, my memories of it are
pretty vague. I do remember it was a clear crisp night in Glasgow as myself
and half a dozen friends joined the bus that was going to take us to the newly
opened Livingston Forum. I had been a Cult follower since Electric but this had
been the first opportunity to see them in the flesh. As the set list goes, I
recall New York City being the set opener and the perfect start it was.
I remember Soul Asylum specifically as I made a point of listening out
to the taped backing vocals I had read about in an issue of Kerrang! magazine.
Another particular memory was of Billy playing acoustic (which I think was on a
stand) with his Gibson strung over his shoulder at the start of Edie (Ciao
Baby). The acoustic was discarded and the familiar guitar hero shapes
reappeared when the solo came round. All the favourites were played culminating
with a blistering finale of Love Removal Machine. As I said, my memory of
the night is pretty vague except for certain things. One thing I do know is that
the support act Claytown Troupe are no more, the Livingston Forum is gone......the
Cult are still here!
