The Cult - Spokane Coliseum, Aug 8/1989
Spokane Coliseum, Spokane, Washington
Opening for: Metallica
My very first Cult show! They were opening for Metallica. I don't remember the set list, but they put on a great performance. I met Matt Sorum after the show, outside by the tour buses. He was a very cool and laid back guy. He signed my Sonic Temple Shirt and I told him to have fun playing at the MTV music awards which was a week later. I do remember toward the end of the set, Ian said, "be good for Metallica". This was hilarious to me because the crowd was 95% Metallica fans!

I was at this show also. They opened with The Phoenix, Ian had a wide white bandana and sunglasses and they rocked hard for like 50 minutes if I remember right. We were among the minority that were really into them. Don't remember anyone being rude, most just stood there lightly bobbing their heads. We pushed up front and rocked. Metallica played for over 3 and a half hours. Wish The Cult had a longer set, but was the only time I would end up seeing them live so it was worth it! Hope to see them again, saw them on Guitar Center and they sounded awesome.
