Wembley Arena, London, England 
Having seen the Cult many times before in smaller venues, and as a 4 piece, I was
expecting my first Cult arena gig to be a disapointment. How wrong I was! The opening
act were appaling, good job I missed most of their set! As soon as the Cult came
on opening with Zap City, the place went wild. I was at the back but the rush
of people to the front totally overwhelmed the security who were at a constant battle
to cope with everyone moshing, so I found myself at the front on Billy's side of the
stage. Security weren't helped by Ian's constant encouragement of the crowd to tell
security to Fuck Off! They played one of the best gigs I've ever been to that night, my
strongest memory was how cool the band looked with Kid Chaos on bass and looking round
the crowd there was this great mixture of Goths, Bikers, Punks, Hippies and anyone else
that enjoyes wild drinking music. As a 5 piece they were at their peak back then, still
young enough to play with full intensity and with plenty still to prove. They played
several encores, one was Wolf Child Blues which Ian sang whilst puffing on a
monster spliff, they finished with Love Removal Machine and Ian smashing the
shit out of the drums and nearly the drummer, maybe he was trying to give him a hint!
Belter of a gig. The best Cult gig I ever went to by a mile. I hope to fill in some
of the other gaps in your gig reviews soon.
