The Copa, Toronto, Ontario Audio Recording Exists

Tickets for this show were $10.70 to match the radio staion's call numbers Q107. It sold out in ten minutes and scalpers were getting $50 per ticket outside. The club was packed to the rafters and The Cult was rarin' to go. They had been on the road openning for Billy Idol (who could be seen dancing at the side of the stage during this show) and finally had a night to themselves to cut loose. The Q107 DJ openned the show (which had no opening band) with the words: "This city...Toronto discovered The Police, Talking Heads and the next big deal...ladies and gentlemen...The Cult!"

Wagner's "Flight of the Valkeries" revved up the crowd and the Cult launched full tilt into their set! They played for over 90 minutes and played almost every song from Love and Electric. They also did Horse Nation and Sprit Walker from Dreamtime. At one point, feedback flooded out of the monitors. Ian got really pissed off and threw the mic into the crowd. He ran off and yelled at the soundman and tried to fix it himself by working at the soundboard at the side of the stage. Order was restored and the show continued. Ian said, "Some of you were at the Billy Idol show last night. Well, we only had about 45 minutes...but tonight we're gonna play until you want us to stop! Okay!?" I taped this show on my walkman.
