CNE Grandstand, Toronto, Ontario
Opened for Billy Idol
The Cult was openning for Billy Idol and as a result only had 45
minutes to work with. They did a pretty good job, but it was daylight and
outdoors. They stuck mostly to material from Electric their new
album at the time. I had front row tickets, dead center and I taped
the show on my walkman. During the show Ian announced that they would
play a secret club date the next day and to listen for details on the
radio.

I tried to see The Cult every time they came to Toronto...which was very
often. The concert that sticks out however is a time they opened for Billy
Idol in the mid to late 80's. We went just to see only "The Cult", we couldn't
care less about Billy. The CNE Grandstand was full early! The Cult arrived by
helicopter, kicked a lot of ass on stage, and left on golf carts. By the time
Billy (Idol) made his egotistical way on stage, more then half the crowd had
left! It seems that maybe the organizers should have The Cult the headliners!
