This was the first time I'd been to see The Cult since the Electric Tour in '87.
Having seen the Love tour, in 85, as budding a 15 year old "Goth". Memories of
these tours whet my appetite for one of the bands rare appearances in Scotland,
and more in particular Glasgow.
Whilst not being as "mental" as the gigs all those years ago, The Cult showed that
they could still "kick arse" when it comes to a live show. We were treated to an
eclectic mix of classics from the back catalogue and the hour and three quarters
passed in no time at all. Glasgow crowds, being of a different breed to EVERY
other, rose to the occasion, as always, and the band certainly responded.
Whilst the Academy certainly 'aint no Barrowlands. This show certainly ranks up
there with the best of them, if a little self indulgent (Wonderland & Rise
instantly spring to mind). With the likes of Spiritwalker, Phoenix and Nirvana
took me zooming back 21 years in an instant.
When the show finished my only thoughts were that I hoped it wouldn't be another
umpteen years before they're back north of the border. Should they do so, here's
a wee suggestion for Ian and Billy. Next time, see you at the Barra's, lads.

I last saw the Cult at Koln, Germany on 31 October 1991. They were great then (the
audience were dreadful), but tonight in Glasgow they excelled themselves. Absolutely
superb; perfect guitar from Billy, every note spot on from Ian, and the Academy was
rocking. The crowd loved it and the boys loved the crowd. Worth the wait.

Where do you start?
2 hours of pure class. They are one of the very few groups who seem to get better with time.
The new line up is brilliant, the show just takes off and does not stop.
All the classics were played with energy and the quality of the music was spot on.
They were always one of the best rock groups in the world and this show just proved it.
The only down side was the show came to an end!
They should tour more in the UK so more people can experience these rock legends.
