The venue was incredible. The band was incredible. The setlist was incredible.
What more can I say, they blew me away.
Got to the venue as early as possible. Immediately purchased my voucher for
the InstantLive CD and then went to mingle while the opening bands played.
Bangkok Five were quite good. They're from Hollywood and seemed pretty happy
to be added to the bill. I wasn't as taken by Controller Controller, however,
they just didn't move me.
On to the Cult. They started about 9:30 with Lil' Devil. Played some great
tunes including Libertine, Spiritwalker, Brother Wolf; Sister Moon and an
acoustic version of Edie (Ciao Baby). It was a great time, the crowd was wild.
Met a bunch of folks from the message boards, it was good to meet you all!
Ian was a little more sedated than his usual self, blaming that on recent
knee surgery. Hey, no problem, the vocals were excellent. Both Ian and Billy
were very talkative with the crowd, the stage banter was great. The chemistry
between these two guys sure showed. They've come along way and it's a testament
to their will that after all they've been through they can come together on
the same stage as friends. I think when you see all 5 of them obviously
enjoying themselves it goes a long way to making a memorable concert. The
band was interested, interesting, and performed this concert for every person
that was there.
Of course the closing comment about writing new material is good news for
any Cult fan. I don't think we've heard the last of these guys - and that's
welcome news!
