The Cult - Clutch Cargo, Dec 18/2001
Pontiac, Michigan, Clutch Cargo
Opening Band: Like Hell
The show featured 15 songs (2 less than the previous two shows I had attended this year). They did, however, play a newly revised set, which included the following (not in this particular order...): Rise (opened with), War (encore performance), True Believers, Ashes And Ghosts, American Gothic (I was diggin' this one!), Take The Power, Peace Dog (This song still kick's everyone's ass!), Love Removal Machine (encore performance, their patented finish!), The Witch, Edie (Ciao Baby), Sweet Soul Sister, Fire Woman, Sun King (encore performance, sounded good!), Rain, She Sells Sanctuary

NO Lil' Devil, Nirvana, In The Clouds or Wild Flower this time!

Saw the Cult Dec 18 Pontiac, Michigan at Clutch Cargoes, it's an old church made into a bar concert hall. They were great as usual played the standard set they have been playing, the soundman gave my brother there song list, for a double jack and coke, I saw them in Toledo, Ohio about 5 weeks or more ago I thought the Toledo show was much better. The warm up band I think their name is Like Hell, these guys sucked they were the worst band i have ever seen I'm 38 years old I have seen a lot of bands. OK, so on the way home to Toledo about a 70 mile drive, my engine in my 95 mustang blows, this sucks I love this car its a convertible in real good condition, so we walk to exist and this young guy and his girl stop say they will give us ride to Toledo for a negotiated 40 bucks, but he has to go get his brothers van, we wait at gas station he comes back with his woman, we get in there are 4 of us plus those two, I give the dude 40 bucks, well he gives me line about having go to his brothers in Detroit and talk to him first, well we wind up in front of this crack house, the dude runs in and out we take off the dude goes gets gas him and his chick snort up some ecstasy I think, well we start towards Toledo this guy gets us there in 30 minutes, now this is normally a 1 hour drive this kid had needle buried at 110 miles hour all the way down I-75 interstate now this is heavily patrolled by state patrol, this dude didn't care, cars were flashin their brights at us, this dude was passing between cars it was one crazy drive, he gets me home and asks me for 5 bucks more for making such good time, I was laughin' my ass off with my buddies I gave him 5 bucks more it was worth it for the experience of the drive, plus he and his girl were pretty colorful and cool. Well Ian and the boys your show is gonna cost me about 3 grand for new engine, I really like the Cult but not at 3 grand a show.
