I saw the Cult last month in Indianapolis open for Aerosmith and they were not into the show but it was still OK, but this show in Memphis had to be the best rock show I have ever seen. The band was awesome. They fed off the crowd of about 750 people who seemed liked they knew every word to every song. We deserved a great show after listening to the opening band "from hell" who sounded like they were from hell. We drove 7 hours each way from indy and it was worth every minute.

I saw the Cult last night at the New Daisy Theater in Memphis where they played to a near capacity crowd of Cult fanatics. The band and the crowd fed off of each other's energy which added up to an amazing show. Although the set list was pretty standard as of late, the energy and passion was definitely there. For me it's not as much about the set list as it is about the energy and passion of it all. It's the live experience and at the end of the night I was as exhausted and sweaty as the band. I was in "the pit", front and center, three feet from the front of the stage for the duration of the two hour set.. The band was dead on and showed a lot of energy and interaction with the crowd. Although they must be totally exhausted and burned out after a long summer and fall of touring they showed as much energy as they did when I saw them at the Exit/In in Nashville back on May 3rd (and that was the first show of the tour)! Like anyone does, I'm sure they have good days and bad days but I dare say that no one went away disappointed after last night's show!

After the show, I had conversations with both Matt Sorum and Billy Morrison. They both stated that the band was tired and ready for some (well-deserved) time off. Matt's solo album, 'Hollywood Zen' will be out in February and he said that he was planning on taking a band out on the road for a few shows to support that album. Both Matt and Billy M. told me that the Cult would probably be back in the studio by next summer after some time off to start recording their next album which should be out late next year. Billy M. said that the tour with Aerosmith was going well overall but that they were looking forward to some time off to "recharge the batteries".
