So, I was at the 11/29 show. The Cult was opening up for Aerosmith. I've
been a Cult fan since '87, and this was my first live experience with the
band. I'm now 40 years old, and here I am in a fuckin' sky box seat with a
bunch of pompous lawyers (my wife is an attorney), thinking I should be down
on the floor. But at one moment Ian said (I'll paraphrase) "Don't forget
people, that this is a rock concert. You can stand up! Don't go home and
feel left out....and say, I should have stood up" And I thought, you know,
he's right. I actually thought he may be talking directly to me. So, I stood
up, danced my 40 year old fat ass around and became part of a concert that
night...just like the old days. Only this time I was in the sky box drinking
beer from the........can! I'm sure that was a faux pas. I felt liberated,
even if it was for only one night! I'm sure people might recognize me from
the concert. When it was
Love Removal Machine time, I was the nut up in the
skybox screaming the Baby, baby baby part!!! Every person who calls them
self a rock fan needs to see The Cult. Oh yeah, they sounded great too,
Ian's vocals were dead on, Billy played big, bad ass guitar, Matt has the
timing of a clock, Billy the bassist was thumpin' and who is the dude in the
Cowboy Hat playing rhythm? He stood in the shadows, but he was having a good
time. And Aerosmith? Never better! You'd have to be to follow an act like
the Cult!
