Just go back from the show. Jesus fucking Christ they rock. They got on stage, played about 2 bars and the power died. Turns out they got a little to excited and kicked a wire. Never the less they returned moments later and brought the house down. Ian got hit with a full beer can and continued the show bloody faced and all. He said "That's what is was like back in my day. Now it's your day. Celebrate it!!!" Fire Woman and Love Removal Machine made my night. They also did a beautiful performance of Edie (Ciao Baby). Awesome show. If they are coming your way. DO NOT PASS IT UP!!!!!! Later :)
Pure mayhem, that's what this show was! This was my 8th time seeing the band and I have never, ever been to a Cult show quite like this. A huge pit, crowdsurfing galore, bodies pressed up against one another...it was absolutely CRAZY! It seemed like the younger audience was up front, while the older fans relaxed in the back. I don't blame them, things up front were chaotic!! Ian handled getting hit in the head like a pro, he completely blew it off. Personally, I am bruised and battered but I wouldn't change a thing! As usual, the band was on fire. Edie (Ciao Baby) was great yet again, as was Take The Power and True Believers. Wild Flower and Fire Woman nearly incited a riot. What a night, what a crowd, what a show. The Cult absolutely fucking rock, if you can't be moved by them then you are not alive. People who don't know the band are missing out on a piece of life.
This is the third time this year I've seen them and my mind was blown once again. The crowd was a typical New York crowd. Always a fight in the audience. Just as Ian was about to approach the mike for the opener Rise the power blew. 10 minutes later they came out and blew us through the walls for almost 2 hours. They played a good chunk of the new record and some old favourites. I still wish they would touch upon Ceremony and The Cult records but never the less I go to shows with no expectations except for a good rock n roll show. Nothing in particular I want to hear because if there is ill spend the entire time hoping and miss the energy. I learned this a few years ago.
