Well we got a treat last night -- the Cult all by themselves!! Man they blew the lid off of Hammerjacks. Although a few Baltimorons threw ice at the end of the show and some fool ran up on stage the guys rocked the joint with some phat guitar and Astbury vocals. You can tell they've been playing a lot on the road cuz they are really tight w/ their performance. Damn I'm gonna have to make that 8 hour drive and see them in South Carolina. They played it loud and proud, my ears are still ringing. That was a ROCK N ROLL CONCERT...

It's one day later and my ears are still ringing. Another solid Cult performance but in a venue that's too small for their sound. No opening act so the band went on shortly after 10 p.m. and rocked for about 90 minutes. The Cult's performance at HammerJacks was extremely loud, and definitely too loud at the start. T-Bone is not running the board (not sure why) but the start of Rise was too loud and distorted that you could barely hear Ian's vocals. The guy running the board did his thing and balanced the sound out and then the show took off. The band rocked and the crowd really got into the show. People were moving with the music pumping their fists in the air. The change in set is refreshing, but it still leaves you wanting some more of the classics. Too bad they didn't play White as they had earlier on this leg of the tour. The addition of the new songs and Sun King are great. It was obvious most of the crowd isn't familiar with American Gothic, Ashes And Ghosts, or True Believers but still showed their enthusiasm with the harder songs. I thought the songs came off great as did the rest of the set. Definitely a strong show for an appreciative crowd. My only regret is that I won't be in town on the 21st when the CULT hit the 9:30 club. A much better venue for their sound and the last time there this summer they rocked.
