The band opened with the thunderous new song Rise, off their upcoming CD. It's an instant Cult classic. Ian was wearing all black (surprise) including a long kilt/dress that looked cool. The entire band has one hell of a stage presence. They were there to rock the crowd and the crowd was there to be rocked hard. For those of you wondering if they sound good or are debating whether to see them or not...go. They sounded as good as I've ever heard them. They were fantastic. Now for my big complaint... For a band that has a large number of songs to choose from, they are severely limiting themselves in concert. They played the same set-list as the previous concert and I'll bet it will be exactly the same when they come to a town near you. There's no problem with the songs they do play, but they played nothing off of 1994's "The Cult" CD, which is one of my favorites of all time. They were on stage just under an hour and a half. They should add at least another half hour and mix in songs like Star, Coming Down (Drug Tongue), or Joy. These songs are every bit as good as the old hits like Fire Woman, Love Removal Machine, or Rain ... better, as far as I'm concerned. I loved the show, but I walked away feeling a little slighted by what they didn't play.

Whew, what a show! Ian was his usual self trying to get the crowd motivated. Most needed to put down their drinks and get down and boogie. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a cold one every now and then but I'd much rather show the band my appreciation by getting into the groove rather than standing there just tapping a foot so I don't spill my drink! Ian was constantly having to encourage the crowd, at one point he even said "OK let's stop worrying about the booze and get your mojo's working". They focused mainly on the new album, Electric, Love and Sonic Temple not including anything from Ceremony, The Cult or pre-Love. Great show, don't miss this tour if you can help it!

Indy is a pretty lame town when it comes to concerts, so I was shocked to see that The Cult decided to make a stop here. Even though it was short of a sell-out, Ian was still a ball of energy! When Billy ripped into the opening riff to Rise they tore the place down! In fact, they got the crowd so worked up, there was a fist-fight in the midst of the fury of The Witch. After the song, Ian told the offenders to "get therapy!" As Ian came back for the encore, he walked in under a picnic table umbrella and told the crowd that he was going to perform the rest of the show under it. Highlights: War was absolutly outstanding and of course I'm always a sucker for that Wild Flower riff!!! I still can't believe they bothered to stop in Indy, but man am I thankful!! Thanks for the great evening Ian and Billy!!!!!!!
