The music sounds different on this tour, it's hasn't been this bass driven since Jamie Stewart and that aspect really does add a lot to the music. We're very lucky to have Martyn Le Noble because he really does do alot for the band. He's a very nice guy on top of his musical talents and he told us that he will be in the studio with them when they record the new album. This line up is a group of talented musicians and great guys on top of that. They seem to enjoy what they're doing and after the show Billy told us that they have been "having a blast" on this tour. I hope that there aren't any more personnel changes because The Cult 1999 is a group of true professionals. Ian ended the show by promising that they would be back next year. I can't wait!

CULT RISING '99....."I fell from the sky!" The show was simply amazing! Hands down the best concert I have ever been to in my life, and I have seen many. To be honest with you, I was skeptical after reading the reviews for this tour prior to my experience, but after last night all skepticism was blown out of the water. I last saw the Cult on March 8, 1995 in Austin, Texas. That show was good, but nothing compared to last night. I drove from Tulsa, OK to Dallas with some fellow Outlaws to see the show. The trip was well worth it. Luckily, we were able to scam our way onto the floor to witness the magic. Incredibly, the Cult sounds like they are in their prime. Ian was sharp vocally and spiritually despite mentioning a slight cold. Duffy played like I have never heard him before. The supporting cast was equally tight. I don't remember the exact order of the set because, I was having too good of a time to even care. The ceremony kicked off with background music from "Duel of the Fates" from Star Wars Episode I, then thunderously the boys busted into Lil' Devil. Woah, I was floored by the sound and energy coming from the simply decorated stage. I immediately realized that I was getting ready to witness the best concert of my life, compliments of my favorite band. Highlights of the show were a couple of impromptus of the Doors and Janis Joplin by Ian, Peace Dog, The Witch and the encore. Everyone sang along to every song, especially Peace Dog. Ian interacted a lot with the crowd and was very thankful for the turnout and support. At one point Ian sincerely spoke, "We appreciate everybody coming out tonight. It is not a right for us to play for you, it is a privelage and we thank you for that." Ian also talked about the special meaning that the Cult Rising 1999 tour experience meant to everyone associated. I felt that electricity the entire show. The Witch was kick ass, as were all songs for that matter. I honestly can't pick a favorite, because they were all right on. She Sells Sanctuary was the last song, and I knew an encore was sure to follow. I however, was not prepared for the knockout punch. When the band came back for more, Ian had his hair pulled back and had red Indian war paint covering the upper half of his face. He looked wicked. He briefly spoke of Native America and the band busted into The Phoenix.....unbelievable. Love Removal Machine followed and was to be the last song of the encore and evening. During Love Removal Machine, Ian told everyone that this was their last chance of the night to really get down and rock out and everyone did. At one point, I looked around the venue and every last person was literally going ape shit. I have never seen anything like it. Simply put, this was the very best concert experience of my life. I am still grinning from ear to ear. The Cult is rising and they are as tight as I have ever heard or seen them. It is almost scary to think of how great their new material will be. If you have the chance, spend the cash, take the time and make the drive.....you'll be glad you did...I know I am! The SET included, in no particular order: Lil' Devil, Fire Woman, In The Clouds, The Witch, Sweet Soul Sister, Wild Flower, Rain, Revolution, Peace Dog, Edie (Ciao Baby), Sun King, New York City, She Sells Sanctuary and Encore-- The Phoenix and Love Removal Machine.

I just saw The Cult perform last week and all I have to say is that they are still as awesome as ever. IAN looks FABULOUS.

I'll begin my comments with a small rant. The next time the Cult comes to Dallas, I suggest they find another station other than KDGE to promote it. I kept hearing plugs for the concert, but never did I hear them play any songs from the Cult, even after I called in and made a request. They seemed more intent on plugging Neve and Splendor. Bands I could really care less for. As a result, I now listen to 97.1 the Eagle. They at least play some songs every now and again. With that aside, I had a spectacular time. I got to the Bronco Bowl at about 3:30. While I was wandering around I noticed Ian and caught up to him and his girlfriend. I said hello briefly as Ian was heading onstage for the sound check. I had my camera with me, but meeting him evidently made me stupid and I didn't get a pic. While waiting in line for the doors to open, I met Chuck who is a longtime Cult fan and Native American Indian. Chuck had been following the band around the country. He had a very cool poster he made for Ian. It had a picture of an Indian brave with a quote from Jim Morrison. "Oh Great Creator of Being, Grant Us One More Hour to Perform Our Art and Perfect Our Lives" Chuck and I were amongst the first people through the doors. We camped out at the very front of the stage and anxiously awaited things to kick off. The opening act Neve was fair. I really didn't care for Splendor at all. New American Shame had a lot of energy and enthusiam and got things warmed things up a bit. The bass player had some narly tattoos. The guitar player definately reminded me of Angus Young. I think they have potential. After New American Shame, music was playing from what sounded like Ian's upcoming album while the road crew set things up. The lights dimmed, the band walked onstage and it was on! Billy launched into Lil' Devil and we all went into a frenzy! I snapped a pic and got a inquisitive look from Ian. I forgot to turn off the flash! That's the great thing about digital cameras. The flash is not required. Once I turned off the flash everything was cool. I was able to get about 50-60 shots. Most of them turned out pretty well. I even stole a pic of a woman who decided to bare all. Hee hee! At one point during the show Ian noticed Chuck and bent down to shake his hand. I shook his hand first before realizing that it wasn't me he was trying to shake hands with. Oops! Ian had obviously noticed Chuck and his poster he had hanging over the rail and wanted to shake hands with him. I can't specifically remember the exact song order, but I think it was the same as the Houston show. Throughout the show Ian would say things like, "Texas radio's got a big beat". At one point he began singing a local Texas ditty and said, "Don't bullshit me! That's Texas!". Anyone know the song? Ian knew his stuff and the crowd loved it! When the band left and came back out for the encore, Ian had painted his face red and spoke concerning Native Americans. He had obviously made a connection with Chuck and was directing his comments to him. The band then launched into The Phoenix. I went apeshit at that point. The emotion and energy pulsating from the stage and in the crowd was unsurpassed. The whole band was very tight. I agree that having Martyn LeNoble definately adds the bass energy that was more present than it was on the last tour. I think it's phenomal that Matt Sorum is back as well. He along with Billy pack a one-two punch that I don't think any other band could match. They finished off with She Sells Sanctuary and the show was over. What a ride! As the band walked offstage Martyn came up to Chuck and asked for the poster so he could give it to Ian. Once the show was over, I desperately wanted to get backstage to meet Ian, Billy and the rest of the boys but didn't have a pass. Fortunately, I was able to negotiate with a lovely girl named Ryan who had met the band before and agreed to give me her pass in exchange for the pictures I had taken. Yeehah! Backstage I met Billy, Matt and Martyn. Ian didn't come out for some reason. Billy was very very cool. As soon as he came out I eagerly fronted him for a picture. He politely asked me I'd mind waiting a few minutes while he chatted with the ladies. He could have easily told me to bugger off but didn't. In the meantime, the batteries to my camera had gone dead. Fortunately again, I found a gentlemen with a pager who loaned me his. It took 3 tries to get a good shot with Billy but I finally did. He was very accomodating through the whole thing. I then briefly chatted with Matt and got a picture with him as well. He seemed very down to earth as well as friendly. He's cut too. Chicks were definately grooving on him! I can't wait to see what comes out of the studio. I especially can't wait until next year when they come again! I've sent my pics to JT. He should be posting them soon. Enjoy!

First of all, I just want it known that there are some out'a'sight people out there who are true CULT fans and I have met many of you as I hit the ground running. This marks my fifth CULT show, (if you include Alpine) in less than two months! What a hell of a summer! LANCE WILSON thanks for the pixs! Man, we both had a great time up front didn't we? The first two bands before New American Shame came out were really lame, and I agree with the lead singer of NAS that if he had to hear one more of that kind of shit he was gonna blow major chunks all over the stage. I can't even remember the names of those bands thats how much of an impact they had on me. They had the teenybopper chick's panties in a bunch (B.F.Deal). OK, enough dis on those wanna be's. New American Shame came out and really put on a show, maybe to show the crowd how it's really done. I found them just as intense as I did when I had seen them late July in K.C., Minn., and Chicago. These guys still stand and deliver the goods. They seemed to have cut short their playlist or something, but I sensed them reading too much of the reviews which said they over stayed their welcome. Too bad, they were a blessing compared to those other two bands. Still they really put on a great guest appearence for THE CULT. Ian is the last to come out on stage, and lo and behold, he is wearing his lizard leather pants and cowboy boots! I guess those drawstring pants that he had worn earlier in the tour finally got LOST somehow! Thankfully. The show went on fairly well, however, the majority of the floor crowd was made up individuals that came to see the first two bands and stayed for the remainder of the show. They were NOT CULT fans persa, but leftovers who only wanted mosh and to give you an example: Chicks were showing their tits and several times Ian would say that they shouldn't do that because that is NOT what THE CULT is all about. Ian went on about if chicks didn't have tits how would that then affect us? Hey people, the show is on the stage not in the crowd, ya know what I'm sayin?! Anyway, I made a poster for the concert with a picture of a young Native American man in war paint and battle garb with a caption under it from Jim Morrision "Oh, Great Creator of Being, Grant Us One More Hour to Perform Our Art and Perfect Our Lives". Ian came out during the encore with his face painted red and I kept yelling "INDIAN POWER". He spoke of Native American issues and then the band broke into some more heavy Rock'n'Roll. My poster got taken backstage, but I don't know if Ian got it or not? I hope so, it was my gift to the band for coming back and playing some great music for all us CULT children. Best summer I can remember in quite a long time! Thanks guys!

This had to have been one of the most incredible concert experiences of my life! The Cult was absolutely electrifying, and the crowd was going nuts! I luckily sneaked my way onto the floor after the opening acts finished, and got up to the very front. Words cannot adequately describe the energy and passion throughout the venue as the Cult entered the stage. I was blown away! The Cult is a must-see! Only by seeing them live, on stage, will you fully appreciate the power that this band has to offer. Five huge stars on this one!!!!
