Brixton Academy, London, England
Opening band: Fun^Da^Mental
It had the new line-up and the best news was that Ian was clean! Fantastic energy
again and I must highly recommend the Academy as a venue to experience. It is a
cozy place which allows you to become more intimate with the performer. Ian
apologised continually through the night to the fans, as he knew that he had not
only abused the band, the music, and himself, but also the fans who venture to the
gigs. Great riffs, loads of encores, and a superb party on the night. It made the
ride home on the Tube that much more enjoyable. Grade - A+

One month on from The Cult's storming show at Milton Keynes, and they were at it
again, this time as headliners at one of the UK's best venues. Fun-da-mental
supported them, which was a pretty radical billing at the time (they're hip-hopish, and
featured Aky from S.D.C.). The Cult were in fine hard-rocking form, playing a
truncated (ie no guitar-wank solo) American Horse, which was the highlight
for me, but as a whole the gig was sensational. Wild Flower and Lil' Devil
never sounded so good. I did have a bootleg vid of the show, but it was nicked
some time back, so I can't remember much else about it. I just happened to be down
in London the week of the gig, so I went on my own. Made no difference as EVERYONE
was jumping and moshing around like mad. Stunning. I think they played Starchild
and Gone, but I can't be sure. I do seem to remember being impressed and amused
by a ridiculously excessive amount of swearing on one song (has to be Gone).

After the great outdoor experience of getting rained on in MKs,
this could not fail. Fantastic to see the Cult in a small venue, that
seemed to have the place shaking with the sound. Loved every minute of it
and it was soaked in sweat by the end from trying to keep up with the
energy the band were kicking out. More like the Cult gigs from the late 80s.
