Zenith, Paris, France
Opened for Aerosmith
Met 6 Cult nuts from Scotland at the Victoria Train Station in London. The convinced
me, on the spot, that I should join the Tour Bus that they were on and head to Paris
for the Cult/Aerosmith show. I bought a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, and they
bought my ticket! It was an incredible show. I have witnessed many fine rock shows
from ACDC to Van Halen to Ozzy to Kiss, but this was by far the most energised and
electric show I had ever experienced. The Cult was nothing like the Cult from the
North American tours. They had more grind, riff and energy. The stage diving blew
me away as did the rowdy Scots who joined me in stage and shoulder diving. After a
draining show, and believe me when I say that we were knackered, I headed to the back
of Zenith to grab a beer (something not so common in Canada at the time). Aerosmith
were on, and they are great rockers, but I had seen the choreographed shows before.
Ordered a beer, and to my surprise, the Cult indulged in a beer as well, including
Matt Sorum and his assistant. Great talk and party. When I found out that they
would be in Canada during the winter, I said that I would meet them in Saskatoon, as
it was part of their tour dates.
