St. Petersburg, Florida, Jannus Landing

Headlining, opening bands: Action Action, The Showdown

I guess getting off the drugs and the booze have helped the Cult tremendously!

This marks the 12th time that I've seen them live, most recently last year almost to the day at this same venue (Jannus Landing.) The crowd was suprisingly into the show (given that it was a Tuesday night) - the band was tight and really into the performance. John Tempesta is a killer drummer!

They started a bit early as we found out there is a weekday 11:00pm curfew at Jannus Landing - we strolled in at about 9:30 as the band was halfway through the opener Nirvana - which sounded stellar by the way - before ripping into "Rain"

The songs from the new album - as I expected - sounded as if they were made to be played live. "I Assassin" has grown on me ever since the first time I heard it, though I was disappointed in that they didn't play - my opinion- the best two songs from the new Album - "Stand Alone" and "Tiger In The Sun." Instead, we heard "Savages", "I Assassin", "Born Into This", and of course "Dirty LIttle Rockstar"- which, even live, still seems to be missing something. "Savages" and "Born Into This" were both a pleasant surprise live.

The classics, were classic, as always, and for one night I got to relive some of the best days of my life.
