Amsterdam, Holland, Paradiso
The Cult back in Holland, or, as Ian said, the great city of Amsterdam,
except for the crack junkies, hookers, etc.
Sold out Paradiso, almost one hour late the rockshow began. "Sorry to keep
you waiting", Ian apologised to the fans. The real fans knew upfront that
they would start late, and all is good...
The crowd were from about 25 to 45 of age, a lot of folks with Cult T-shirts
of twenty years ago. Ceremonial Stomp, Electric, Pure Cult, Love...
It was a fantastic show, right from the beginning. Ian and Billy were having
fun and obviously enjoyed the enthousiasme of the crowd. The crowd made Ian
forget (a little) that UK are no longer in the WC of soccer...
At one point, later in the show, Billy even started a famous ol' rocksong
from a famous rockband, and Ian and John and later Chris joined him. That
was unique, I think. I just do not know what song it was, very frustrating.
Maybe somebody who was there can help me with that info. But that says
something: the crowd had fun, but so did The Cult.
Ian sounded great, Billy also, allthough it was very loud. My ears are still
"peeping" and tonight I have to see them again in Tilburg. I'll be
completely deaf by wednesday, but I don't care. I've seen The Cult life
again, and that was almost ten years ago !
Paradiso is a great place for bands to play. No matter where you sit or
stand (there are two rows of balcony up above), you always have a perfect
view of the stage.
John, Chris and Mike are playing allright, but the focus of the band is, and
always has been, Ian and Billy. They accept that and therefore it's all
good. Chris does look like a real rock and roll bandmember, the female
Cultfans will probably like his (and John's also) looks and perfromance a
lot.
I had the time of my life. I met Clinton, a nice Australian guy (living in
Holland for some years) and his beautiful and kind girlfriend Jaël from
Amsterdam before the show. We drank a few bears and then enjoyed the show.
Jaël is a fan of The Cult since she was ten years old. Fantastic ! It was
nice meeting you both guys.
All songs were great, but the songs i liked best were Electric Ocean, Rain,
In The Clouds, The Phoenix and She Sells Sanct.
Great to see how all of the crowd jumps up and down and around during She
Sells...
And fantastic what Billy can do with a Les Paul guitar ! Just close your
eyes and float away on the Electric Oceans sound... At least I did...
To wrap things up, thank you Ian and Billy for (again) a fabulous rockshow.
You guys STILL rule the rock and roll world, no matter how many times or
years you break up !! And thank you Dutch Cultfans, for making it a great
atmosphere. Hope to see you again tonight at 013 in Tilburg.
And Billy and Ian, a new album would be fantastic. Hundreds of thousands of
die hard Cult fans would appreciate it, for sure...
Cheers.

It was the fourth time I beeing at a concert of the Cult. But this one was
probably the best there ever was. The music was very cool same as the place
there played and is was SOLD OUT only for 1500 people. GREAT. They have played
all the great songs included my favorite In The Clouds. The Cult have rocked
this evening very good and all the people were great to. It was a perfect day
for everyone.
