House Of Blues, Anaheim, California

Opening Band: Flying Tigers

I just got back from seeing The Cult tonight. Well, seeing them play one song anyway.

About a year ago, a House of Blues opened up *in* Disneyland. I've been to the one's in Vegas and Hollywood and for the most part like the places a lot. Now, I only live about 20 minutes from Disneyland in California so I figured I didn't need more then an hour at the most to get there comfortably. Big mistake.

I get there and some goober parking drone directs me to the wrong parking lot. I have to walk half a mile (no lie) to a "Lion King" tram to take me to the intrance to the park which took half an hour right there. This tram drops me off at the complete other end of the park from where I want to be.

None of the signs in the park had directions to where the HOB was and any "cast member" I asked couldn't tell me shit. After navigating through crowds of Disneyites for 45 minutes, I finally find the HOB nestled between some Disney candy stores and the show is already half an hour underway (at 9:30pm!). To make matters even more fun, they won't let anyone in on the floor because it's too crowded and make people go upstairs and hang out on the outside balcony! I couldn't even see the show! After one song, I hung it up and left. I swear I'll never see another show at that shithole as long as I live.

(BTW, Peace Dog sounded pretty good.)

Number 10 for me and it has to be one the best.

The Cult was on tonight, very tight and very good.

The opening band was The Flying Tigers. They have talent but they need a singer, some direction and some better material.

The Cult came on about when I expected that they would. Ian at first seemed pissed or depressed or something, but that faded after the crowd started giving some energy back and he was really in good form. Much much better than he was in San Diego in June. Very good crowd tonight especially for California, but some people were upset that they were getting knocked around in the pit. What did they expect? Ian even made fun of one guy who tried to start a fight over it... very entertaining, I might add. The rest of the band sounded great, but they were all kind of glued to their own part of the stage. Still they delivered the goods. Similar set list as most of the shows, with much more of the new album than in June. Billy sounded great, I think he has worked out the whole tuning down thing out because every song sounded like it was supposed to, and very good too. Highlight of the night (musically speaking) was a song I had never heard before. Possibly some new material? That would be great, perhaps someone else knows what that song was.

All in all a truly excellent show, I think this was the 3rd best show I have ever seen from the guys. And I even caught one of Billy D's picks.

Finally I got a souvenir!!

Long live The Cult.

Well, what can I say? The Cult were tight tonight! This is my third show within a year. My Bridges Burn is a sizzling addition to the set. The lights seemed a bit bright at first until Ian commanded them down.I was in the pit and took a semi beating. The boys did seem a little confined to their own area when performing but every Cult show is a religious experience....How about anything from Ceremony or The Cult? What gives? How about putting Edie (Ciao Baby) to rest and replacing it with Nico? Anyway it was a stellar show and I lok forward to seeing them again.
