The Quest, Minneapolis, Minnisota

Opening bands: Bird 3, Stabbing Westward, Monster Magnet

I've been to alot of great shows over the years, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Police, U2, but last nite was one of the best ever. The Cult came on and went right into Rise, next was In The Clouds, and then Ian said, "it's time for old school right now!" and they launched into Lil' Devil. The crowd went absolutely nuts. I and a friend were on the floor about 8-10 feet back, and it was just like the pits back in the day. Without the violence. no one got hurt but it was cool. Ian was intense. after Lil' Devil came Take The Power, and The Saint. Then people went nuts again for Peace Dog. Next if I remember was, Edie (Ciao Baby), then Fire Woman and then Sweet Soul Sister. They closed out the main set with She Sells Sanctuary... Along the way he told some people right down front to stop bitching and get out of you can't take the heat. The oncore was great. Ian came out and said, "minneapolis, THIS MEANS WAR!!!" and obviously they played a really cool version of War, next, many of us were screaming for Nirvana, and this idiot next to me said, this is the Cult, dude, not Nirvana. I cracked up. They played Nirvana and closed with Love Removal Machine. what an intense show, at a small venue. I can't wait to see them again! What a great f'ing rock show!!

Let me say first of all that it was a privelage to see The Cult live again. The concert for some reason was moved from The Roy Wilkin's Theater (ST.PAUL) to The Quest (MINNEAPOLIS) which turned out to be such a blessing! Monster Magnet opened up with alot of energy, I'll give them that. Now for the Cult, it was truely amazing! Myself and my friends were right in front of Billy Duffy, and he didn't dissappoint us throughout the night! They opened up with Rise, what a blistering performance! After playing In The Clouds and Lil' Devil Ian was pissed of at the security, which turned out to be a hymm about how being in the front (pit) was not for the weak. This including boys and girls. Next during a song Ian got fed up with some girl and came half way into the crowd from the stage offering her a hand to get her out of there. He literally pulled her out of there with some help from the security. After that the night just flowed with raw power only a cult fan would know. They played the same set as usual ending with Love Removal Machine. They sounded amazing with Matt and Billy M providing great rythem, what an amazing show. I heard after that they moved the show because they only sold 1000 tickets, which was great for us that attended it. A grabbed two Billy Duffy custom pics from the air which ended the night perfectly. I would have to say that if you get a chance to see them seize the moment, it was worth driving 8 hours down from Canada for this concert. My one pet peev about their show is that they only play for 1 hour/half without playing anything from Dreamtime, Ceremony and The Cult. Other than that it was truely amazing to see the Cult with my newphew , it was his first time. Thanks Lee
