Ranch Bowl, Omaha, Nebraska
Just saw The Cult in concert tonight in Omaha. They were great. They played a lot
of their new songs.

I've only seen them 3 times, but this was by far the best they've sounded. They
played War, Nirvana and Love Removal Machine in the Encore.
They just plain kicked ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad they came here. A million
thanks to the person you booked it. Too bad the venue was such a hole. I forgot
how bad it really is.

We arrived way too early and decided to sit inside Matthew's Pub, which is the
bar adjacent to the main show area. As we walked inside we got to see Billy
Duffy signing an autograph just before he went in to do sound checks. I'm
generally not the type that gets "star struck", but I must admit that seeing
Billy not more than six feet away from me was pretty damn cool! Sitting inside
the pub we enjoyed a couple beers while listening to the sweet sounds of The
Cult's warm up set; which included Rise, Peace Dog, and Sweet
Soul Sister. Of course this was just the beginning of what would be the
absolute most enjoyable rock 'n roll experience of my life. And if things
couldn't be more perfect, we learned from the bartender that there would be
no opening act for tonight's show. FUCKING PERFECTION! Let's dispense with the
opening act and get right to THE CULT! The Ranch Bowl is indeed a small
venue--best suited for a crowd of around 300 people--but I would estimate
that they squeezed between 400 and 500 people into that place. Despite this
and the shows late start, the crowd was great. Everyone was there to enjoy a
great show and I would say with great confidence that everyone most certainly
had a great time! During the performance, Ian did take a moment to talk
about the fans. I wish I could remember his exact words, but the gist of it was
that fans of The Cult are just the best kind of people--best looking, best
dressed, intellectual, etc. So true! I don't remember the exact order of the
set, but they opened with Rise and closed with an encore of War,
Nirvana and Love Removal Machine. And somewhere in between they
played In The Clouds, Peace Dog, Rain, Sweet Soul
Sister, Edie (Ciao Baby), Lil' Devil, Breathe, The
Saint, Fire Woman, She Sells Sanctuary, and Wild Flower.
The entire set went off with out a hitch. Well, one of the strings on Billy
Morrison's bass did break during one of the songs, but it didn't bother him one
damn bit! He just kept right on playing that 3 string bass guitar like the pro
that he is. In case anyone in the band should happen to read this, I just want
to say thank you so much for the incredible performance! And thank you for coming
to Omaha. Please come back again.
