Blue Note, Columbia, Missouri
Opening Band: Lennon
This was my first concert, it was AWESOME! The band, Lennon opened for them,
they were pretty good. Ian was very energetic and I was thoroughly impressed
with the quality of sound. They got the place rockin'. Everyone was bouncing
and juggling all over. I am definately going to the next performance thet is
even remotely close.

Booked it up from Rita's the previous night. Interstate I-335 Kansas Turnpike.
The Autobahn of the mid-west. Hit the streets to locate the venue. Saw the
band's tour buses. Found it. A converted movie theater. Some faithful had
gathered in front early. Sweet. The line grew around the corner all the way to
where the tour buses were parked. Went up and talked with several already
there and made some new friends who I'll meet up with in Kansas City at the
Uptown later next month. Went inside and found our way down towards the stage.
Grabbed only water to drink for the show. I know better than to gulp down a
few brews before any show. Shake the weasel thing comes to mind during the
middle of a set. Not good. Anyway, watched the opening act and had a good
time with them. Saw them in Wichita the night before. Intermission, and we
wave to the road crew and give them our "hello, how ya do'in?". Spoke with
several others who had traveled far to see the band perform. Met 4 Bears and
initiated him into the Posse. Fun times. He got Matt to sign his shirt
earlier. Cool. Alright then, lights dim, intro begins, and the crowd starts
yelling in anticipation. The band broke out with Rise and all were very
response to the new songs. Ian bantered with the crowd and said they would be
playing some "old school" and some "new school" that night. The band still is
getting sharper and big smiles on everyone's faces. Ian played the maracas
on Billy Morrison's behind during one song. Fun. There was some pushing and
shoving in the middle. I guess someone was trying to get a mosh pit started,
but no dice. Still, Ian was doing his best to get the crowd into a groove. He
did. Billy was throwing guitar picks to those in front of him and laughing.
Matt was banging his drum kit to death with his teeth clenched as if to say "No
apologies". Billy Morrison is fitting in quite nicely with the guys and he looks
like he belongs right where he is. He's backing vocals along with Matt. No mike
stand in front of Billy. He's getting right up in the faces of the crowd and
spotlighting his natural abilities on this tour. He's letting his guitars do the
talking. Dynamite. Mike is content to play guitar in the shadows off to the right
of Matt. Ian has to coax him out with some jocularity which usually works by
calling him "Cowboy". Fun times. Ian came out during the encore and told the
crowd they would have to do better at calling them back. The crowd responded
with several large yells and foot stompings. They came back on stage and played
three songs before calling it a night. Hmmmmmm (scratching my chin), I don't know
Ian, what would the last song of the night be? Is it something nasty? Ha Ha.
Booked it back to my crib after the show to T.C.B. and ready myself for Omaha. A
GONZO TRIP. Fun times.
Chuck 7 Eagles
I went to Columbia, MO early to check into the hotel room, and went downtown to
walk around. I came from KC Kansas. I saw the tour buses and hung around back stage
to try and see the band. I did see Matt Sorum and he gladly took some time to sign
my T-shirt and take a quick photo. Matt is a pretty cool guy. I didn't see any others
of the band. I did get some pretty cool photos of the group during the show though. I
can't add too much more to what Chuck 7 Eagles mentioned, but I can say, "What a
KICK ASS SHOW!" It got my blood flowing and I couldn't sleep for days, anticipating
the KC show on June 28th. Rock on Chuck 7 Eagles!
